Kung Fu Panda

Do:

Watch the movie Kung Fu Panda together as a family. You can request this from the local library if you don’t have it at home. Before you start the movie, read through the Bible passage below. After the movie, go through the questions below.

Read:

Ephesians 2:8-10

Ask:

After you’ve finished watching the movie, ask each other the following questions:

· Even though Po thought it was a mistake that he was chosen as the Dragon Warrior, Oogway assured him that it was on purpose. What do you think are the good works that God has created you to do?

· While we are saved by God’s grace, there isn’t a “secret sauce” that makes us automatically perfect. What can we do to make sure we’re serving God every day?

The Iron Giant

Do:

Watch the movie The Iron Giant together as a family. You can request this from the local library if you don’t have it at home. Before you start the movie, read through the Bible passage below. After the movie, go through the questions below.

Read:

John 15:12-14

Ask:

After you’ve finished watching the movie, ask each other the following questions:

· Why do you think the Iron Giant in the movie chose to sacrifice himself?

· Why do you think Jesus sacrificed Himself for us?

· While we may not have to give up our lives for others, what do you think you could sacrifice to show others how much you care about them?

Toy Story

Watch the movie Toy Story (or Toy Story 2) together as a family. You can request this from the local library if you don’t have it at home. Before you start the movie, read through the Bible passage below. After the movie, go through the questions below.

1 John 3:1

Ask:

After you’ve finished watching the movie, ask each other the following questions:

· Why do you think Buzz was so upset when he found out he was just a toy and not the real Buzz Lightyear?

· Just like Andy didn’t care that Buzz and Woody were just toys, he only loved them, God loves us! How does it feel knowing that we belong to God?

The Emperor's New Groove

Do:

Watch the movie The Emperor’s New Groove together as a family. You can request this from the local library if you don’t have it at home. Before you start the movie, read through the Bible passage below. After the movie, go through the questions below.

Read:

Daniel 4 (especially verses 28-37)

Ask:

After you’ve finished watching the movie, ask each other the following questions:

· What were the similarities in the stories of Emperor Kuzco and King Nebuchadnezzar?

· Why is it dangerous to brag about the good things we have or have done, instead of giving God credit for it?

· How can we remember to honor God instead of honoring ourselves?
